A short four months ago, one of the best pitchers in Spring Training was Jordan Zimmermann. He posted an ERA of 3.14, while striking out 20 and walking two in 14 innings, leading many to believe he may be a profitable pick for the regular season. Zimmermann started out solid, with a 2.38 ERA, two wins, eight Ks and three BB in his first two starts; then came a span of four starts where he gave up 21 earned runs to raise his ERA to 6.35 and earn a spot on the waiver wire. Fortunately for him, he has righted his ship over the last month and may deserve a spot in leagues with 12+ teams.
Over the past month, Zimmermann has posted a solid 28 Ks, a 2.12 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 29.2 innings. He seems to have regained that form from the beginning of the year. He came into the year as the Nationals #1 prospect, so it's not a fluke if he continues to pitch well. He pitched well at Florida last time out, so it may be time to grab him, if he's available in your league and you're in need of pitching.
