Spot Starter: Marc Rzepczynski

In response to yesterday's spot-starter post about Tommy Hunter (who provided a very nice line: 7 IP, 5 hits, 2 BB, 6 K and, best of all, a W), Michael Bohn (a.k.a, the Sports Idiot) suggested Marc Rzepcynski for tomorrow's spot start. I have to agree with Bohn on this one. In four years of pro baseball, the 23-year-old lefty has yet to falter. In three seasons of minor-league ball, he posted a 2.76 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 9.8 K/9. And so far in his first MLB season, he boasts a 2.82 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 8.9 K/9. It's unlikely that the 28th-ranked offense of Seattle will be the one to derail him.

Other options include Bronson Arroyo against the league worst offense (San Diego) and Brian Bannister versus a mediocre Baltimore offense.
