Waiver Spotlight: Randy Ruiz

Those of you looking for offensive help--especially in terms of HR and SLG--should take a look at Toronto's Randy Ruiz. Despite a terrific minor-league career, the 31-year-old Ruiz oddly hasn't received much of a shot in the Bigs until now. Over 11 seasons in the minors, he posted a .308 AVG and .503 SLG while homering once every 21 AB (that's about 23 HR per 500 AB).

Since being called up to the Jays this season, he's been even better, boasting a .348 AVG and .630 SLG and bopping four long balls in just 12 games (46 AB).

He's playing regularly at DH and first base, so he should qualify for 1B/CI soon. Owned in just 0.3 percent of ESPN leagues and one percent of Yahoo leagues, I'm guessing he's probably there for the taking!
