Sell High on Peja!

Never has there been a clearer time to sell high on someone than right now with Peja Stojakovic. Luckily for those of you who made the mistake of drafting him (okay, you’re excused if you took the kids trick-or-treating on draft night), the one-time stud has amassed some early season fantasy value…mostly by draining two three-pointers a game.

So you’d better move him while you have a chance to get something in return, because he’s as likely to remain good for four months as a tuna salad sandwich. Here’s why:

  • He’s a high injury risk. (Duh.) He’s averaged 50 games a season since 2006 and has chronic back problems.
  • He’s averaging less than 26 minutes per game so far this year, and he’s not likely to see a significant increase given his back issues.
  • Starting in Week 5, the Hornets have three two-game weeks over a five-week span! (See Roto Rebel’s Schedule Grid.) If you don’t move him before then, you will suffer through three weeks of uselessness at the end of which Peja could very well be back on the shelf.
  • The Hornets have the worst possible playoff schedule.
If that ain’t enough to convince you, then it’s like Flava Flav once said: “I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man.”
