Waiver Spotlight: Rajai Davis

Calling all fantasy owners! Stop what you are doing and pick up Rajai Davis, if he is available in your league. According to Rotowire.com, Oakland Manager Bob Geren has named Davis as his everyday center fielder following the demotion of Eric Patterson. That is huge news, because Davis is a top-notch base stealer with numbers that project very close to those of Jacoby Ellsbury across the board. In fact, he'll probably get you more RBI. Even if you don't need steals, scoop him up so you can use a more established speedster as trade bait to fill another need. I'd give you more details, but I wanted to get this to you as soon as possible!

Spot Starters for Wednesday

Your best bet for a spot start tomorrow if you're in a shallow league is Tommy Hanson (owned in 62.7 percent of ESPN leagues and 65 percent of Yahoo leagues). The immensely talented rookie has been mediocre as of late (yielding 13 runs over his last 25 IP); however, he faces the league's worst offense (San Diego) tomorrow...in the league's most pitcher-friendly venue (Petco Park). Furthermore, Hanson owns a 2.64 ERA on the road...more than a point better than at home.

For those in deep leagues who are desperate for innings, you could consider Doug Davis. Admittedly, Davis' 1.50 WHIP indicates that his 3.73 ERA is misleading, and he's given up 15 runs over his last four starts spanning 18.1 IP. However, tomorrow he faces Pittsburgh's 25th-ranked offense at PNC Park.

Spot Starter: Mat Latos

If super prospect turned super rookie Mat Latos is still available in your league, it's time to scoop him up. Owner of an impressive 2.78 ERA and even more impressive 0.78 WHIP through 16.1 innings in the Majors, the 21-year-old will face Atlanta's 22nd-ranked offense tomorrow. And, for those in weekly leagues, Latos has another start this coming week against the Mets' 23rd-ranked offense.

As evidenced by his 10.6 K/9 ratio in the minors, Latos can rack up the strikeouts...just one reason why he was San Diego's #2 prospect heading into the season (according to Baseball America). Fortunately for you, he's not getting the love he deserves in fantasy land, as he's owned in just 2.1 percent of ESPN Leagues. Check your wire!
