By now we all know that the Tigers landed Johnny Damon to play left field for them. So what does this mean for his 2010 fantasy value? Last season, Damon was arguably one of the top five left fielders in fantasy. People (myself included) tend to think he is older than he actually is, because he has been in the Majors for 15 seasons. If you are counting, he is 36 years old...and still swinging the lumber like he always has. Hell, dude matched his career high in homers at 24 last season and posted his highest OPS since 2004. The only thing slowing him down is stolen bases. (He's terrible with the leather at this point, but we don't care about that for fantasy purposes.)
So, where should we slot him for 2010? You can probably expect about a .285 AVG, 75 RBIs, 90 runs, 12 SBs, 18 HRs, and an OPS of around .790.
I will have full projections by position in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
