George, Hansborough, and Stephenson Could also Benefit from Coaching Change

In today's press conference, Larry Bird was very clear that he wanted to see the Pacers' young players get more playing time. He specifically mentioned Roy Hibbert, Tyler Hansborough, Paul George, and Lance Stephenson. The inclusion of Stephenson was somewhat surprising, as the 20-year-old rookie has yet to step on the floor for the Pacers and is currently listed as the fourth point guard on the depth chart. However, despite being the 40th pick in the 2010 draft, Stephenson has significant upside, as someone who left Cincinnati after one year. In his single season with the Bearcats, he averaged 12.3 points, 2.5 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.9 steals.

Coincidentally, the appropriately nicknamed "Born Ready" recently said that he is anxious to get his chance.

The knock on Stephenson is his defense. He struggled with that aspect of his game in the preseason. However, the Pacers are saying he has shown improvement in that department.

Of course, Stephenson might want to stay out of trouble, if he hopes to remain on Larry Bird's good side.
