According to IndyStar.com, Pacers Coach Jim O'Brien is contemplating starting Paul George over Brandon Rush. We've all learned by now that we can't trust O'Brien any more than Lotso the bear, but this situation is still worth monitoring. If George does wind up starting and logging around 30 minutes a game, he should be good for about 13 points, five rebounds, 1.5 threes, two steals, and a block on average. Those are valuable, Shane-Battier-type numbers.
One reason this is a real possibility is that the 16-25 Pacers might opt to let their youngsters get some experience. Obviously they have a much higher stake in the 20-year-old lottery pick George than the journeyman Rush. Such a development would also be tremendous news for owners of Roy Hibbert. O'Brien has come under fire lately, and may be pressured to start playing the team's future stars instead of trying to give them psychological problems.
